Loft conversions are on the increase as more people decide moving up is much more cost effective than moving out.

There are two types of conversion - dorma, which is when a loft is extended, or velux, when the loft is kept the same size but windows, floors and walls are fitted. Most loft conversions don't need planning permission and specialist loft conversion companies should always be used.
